iPhone 4G vs Nexus One - Technology

The smart phone market has been exploding in the past year or so. Every cell phone carrier has worked to produce and market the greatest and best phone with the features that can compare and beat every other carrier in the market. Apple's iPhone has been one of the leaders in the market but competition is hot while new phones are being released every month. One of the iPhone's direct competitors is the Nexus One. Let's see how their features compare to see which one of these is overall a better phone.

The Nexus One is a smart phone much like the iPhone but is a Google product. The hardware of it seems superior to the iPhone but at the same time how often do the users care about the internal specifications as long as it performs what it needs to do? The truth is not too often. People want to see results and they want sleek, shiny, and workable. The Nexus One has a lot to live up to if it plans to rival the 4G and honestly, I don't think it's possible.

Let's start with the screen resolution. Everyone knows that bigger is better because it fits more. The Nexus One boasts a screen resolution of 800x480 while the new iPhone is going to be 960x640, a decent increase.

The processor of the new iPhone is yet another notable point. Many sources say that the A4 system processor will be implemented into the iPhone. For those who are unfamiliar, the iPad also has the same processor type and family. On the contrary, the Nexus One has a 1ghz qualcom QSD snapdragon.

The cost of ownership between the two is where the Nexus One comes out ahead. AT&T has been frequently criticized for the data plan that is required with the iPhone. It is estimated that an iPhone will cost roughly $3,167 during its lifetime while the Nexus One is several hundred dollars cheaper at $2,707.

The Nexus One also has a superior battery life because it is a 3.7V 1400mAh while the iPhone has been previously a 1219mAh leaving a difference of about 2 hours in battery life more with the Nexus. The 4G has been claimed to fix this problem though but most of it is purely speculation. It has been one of the greatest flaws in the iPhone series though.

One of the greatest flaws of the Nexus is for repair. They do not have their own parts supply chain so if something does happen to break HTC has to repair it after you mail it in which can be quite costly while Apple stores can remedy iPhone problems directly on the spot when you walk into one. This is a big difference for people who want instant gratification.

For now though only time can tell anything. Apple likes to keep things under wraps and every specification that has been released is speculation by the analysts who have been anxiously waiting to see just what the new iPhone is going to bring to the market. It has some tough competition though.

Google Nexus One vs iPhone 3GS - Technology - Cell Phones

A few months ago, the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) conducted their annual international Consumer Electronics Show (CES) at Las Vegas, Nevada. It was during this time that Google announced their Android phone, the Google Nexus One. This mobile phone that can rival the iPhone is said to take smartphones into the next level.

How does Nexus One fair with Apple's iPhone? What are the advantages of this Android phone? Is it a far more superior mobile phone than the iPhone? Let's take a look at some of the features of this Android phone.

Better Features

When talking about display, the Nexus One definitely outshines iPhone. This smartphone from Google comes with a 3.7 inch AMOLED touch screen which creates vibrant colors with display resolution of 480 by 800 pixels as opposed to iPhone's 3.5 TFT touch screen with only 320 by 480 pixels.

The Nexus One is also considerably lighter than the iPhone. It is 5 grams lighter than the iPhone with a weight of 130 grams.

This mobile is also considered by most to have a more flexible home screen than the iPhone. This is because Apple originally designed the iPhone to contain only a fixed number of applications to a single screen. However, because of the arrival of the App Store, Apple expanded by adding more pages for app icons.

Every app downloaded will show up on one of the pages until it's filled up. With the Nexus One, however, users can choose which app icons to place on the home screen.

The Android powered phone comes with a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. It is considered to be faster than the iPhone since iPhone comes with a 600 MHz ARM Cortex A8 processor. This makes running of applications in the Nexus One a lot faster.

Multitasking

One of the main advantages of the Nexus One over the iPhone is its capacity to run more than one application at a time since iPhone does not run third party applications in the background. With the application Pandora, for example, running it on iPhone will not let the user run any other applications. Nexus One users swear that they never once got into a situation where they needed to give up certain applications in order to speed up the phone.

Battery and Camera

The Nexus One comes with a removable battery unlike the iPhone where Apple sealed in the battery. This is an advantage especially to those who are always travelling. They can simply pack up a spare battery and swap it when ever their main battery goes empty.

The camera is 5 megapixels which is better than iPhone's 3.15 megapixel camera. Google has added more features into the camera such as autofocus and smile detection. The Nexus One camera also comes with LED flash.

Apple's iPhone may have been the prototype for smartphones; it may have revolutionized mobile phones with all their technology. But three years after the release of the first iPhone comes the Nexus One which is proving to be a more promising smartphone than the iPhone.

Google Earth- The iPhone Version is more limited! - Computers - Mobile Computing

Google Earth- The desktop application from Google has now mobile version for the iPhone and iPod. Like the desktop version, the mobile version also offers features like birds-eye, 3-D view of the earth with zoom via satellite photos, from Paris, New York to your own backyard. It is really remarkable, how it puts the whole world on your mobile device. The application really comes handy, if you're a stranger in a strange land for its ability to search for nearby businesses. But it's a rough transition from the desktop to the iPhone, and Google Earth has lost some of the functionality that makes it such a pleasure to use on the Mac. But then the mobile version would just function to match the functionality of the maps app that comes inbuilt with the iPhone or iPod touch. Here's how the app works. You can type in a location after tapping the search icon in the upper left corner of the screen; tap the location button in the lower left corner, and Google Earth will find your curre nt locale anywhere on the planet, highlighting it with a bright blue dot. Drag your finger in any direction, and Google Earth will follow. Google Earth adjusts itself based on how a user is holding his iPhone; turning the phone sideways will give horizontal view of the map. The app also takes advantage of the accelerometer by tilting the screen as a user tilts his iPhone or iPod touch. It's certainly a cool way of getting something other than a top-down view of an area.Once fixed on a location, the user can search the surrounding area for points of interest. Tap on the search icon again, and type out a search query-"restaurants," say. A series of labeled circles will pop up on the screen showing you all the restaurants in your immediate vicinity. Tap on one of those circles, and you'll get an address, a URL, reviews from assorted Web sites (if applicable), and, in many cases, a phone number. While Google Earth on the iPhone remembers previous searches, it doesn't allow you to add place marks or pinpoints in the same way that you can store favorite places on the desktop app. This is a very significant omission that diminishes the usability of the mobile version.Another difference between the desktop and mobile iterations of Google Earth is the limited number of layers available for the latter. On the desktop version, you can choose to show street names, places of interest, traffic, or other layers created by the vibrant Google Earth community. It's one of the things that make the desktop version so appealing. With its search capabilities, Google Earth could be a valuable tool if you find yourself in a strange city and need to track down a restaurant, ATM, or tourist attraction in your immediate area. The desktop version is "whatever you want," and thanks to the fact that an user can customize the app any way he sees fit. The iPhone version is more limited. So, it's a huge task for an iPhone application developer to get the app at par with the desk top version.

Six reasons why Apple iPhone 4 disappoints - Business - ECommerce

Since Apple has launched much awaited iPhone4, it is being discussed on various forums and everyone is curious to know more about it before making a buy decision. I also investigated iPhone4 and found that it is short on many parameters. It's not that iPhone4 lacks badly on features but truth is mobile world have moved ahead in recent times. All features which used to create a wow in iPhone 2 & 3 are now very common, the world has moved on far ahead. Not only this, phones with improved processing capability (for example snapdragon 1.3 GHz processor), strong OS (Android Froyo for example) and ultra responsive display (read 4 inch ++ capacitive) has elevated the benchmarks by multiple notch. In light of these new facts - we have re assessed iPhone with respect to current world realities. Before reading these points, one disclaimer - I am not enjoying Apple bashing.Rather I am a vivid iPhone fan, however I feel hurt when I don't see iPhone 4 as per my expectations (nothing out of this world) from a modern mobile device perspective.

We feel that iPhone 4 is falling short on following accounts:1. Overall Design - No surprise or variation in overall design compared to iPhone 3.This shows limitation on front of Apple design team, when other competitions are launching phones with breakthrough innovation and design, iPhone demonstrate design by fix heads who are not ready to change, think and innovate. Apple missed opportunity given by iPhone4 to design mobile phone of changing world. People believe that Mobile phones are going to replace laptops very soon by providing all basic computing features in itself, but where is that thought process visible in Apples approach. They are rather more interested in creating a segment for iPad because more capable iPhone 4 means end of the road for iPad.2. Screen - 3.5 inches screen is total failure. When world has moved ahead with 4 inches and bigger screen, Apple is still living in past 3. Batteries- iPhone 4 batteries are sealed and if battery fails you cannot chang e it, rather you need to change the complete handset. Come on apple, don't try to play such monopolistic games when world is moving towards open standards and approaches. After spending 500 USD poor customer will not be able to change batteries will be too unfair.4. Apple iPhone 4 memory is not expandable when all simple phones are coming with 32GB /64 GB capacity. In a world where contents, video, music files are getting richer (and heavy too) day by day, expecting any User to manage in fix memory of 16GB will be too much. Even a teenager may need 30 -40 gb space to store latest videos and tracks. Not giving card slot doen't shows any maturity rather it shown how narrow and selfish is Apple line of thinking.5. Reportedly users are not happy with package deal offered by AT&T and iPhone 4.This doesn't even give free calls within AT&T users also limits on area coverage further restricts user freedom.6. You need micro SIM to use iPhone 4.This is a new googly from Apple. What is going to be achieved by playing these gimmicks? Rather than adding innovative features Apple team has decided to restrict portability and usability. Very very disappointing!

Overall iPhone 4 looks to me an attempt to cash on iPhone 3G reputation as well as making more cash by plying restrictive practices and design.Hopefully Apple will correct these issues quickly.

iPhone Repair - Hobbies

Because your iPhone is so personal to you, having one that doesn't work can be very frustrating. Your iPhone stores all of your favorite messages, photos, mails, and music. That's why you need to know how to get it fixed.

The first thing to consider is the expense. If you pay to have your iPhone repaired you have the reassurance that your iPhone was repaired by a professional, however, you may lose all your data in the process and that can be expensive to replace, id addition to the cost for parts, shipping, and the repair itself. This can end up costing you as much as a new iPhone.

Another option, if iPhone still works is to transfer all your data to your computer and try to fix it yourself. There are parts available online and there are also numerous repair articles available online. Obviously, this is not impossible and it can actually be fun to repair your iPhone yourself. If you repair it yourself you will have the satisfaction of knowing that the best parts were used and you will have saved yourself some money.

However, if your iPhone is beyond repair, your only course of action is to purchase a new one. But you can trade your iPhone that is beyond repair for a new one, and only have to pay the difference. Normally this means about $199 for the basic model with the extras costing a little bit more. At least you'll be able to get a new iPhone without having to pay for it in full.

It's easy to get the all the parts such as the iPhone replacement batteries, screen protector guards, and replacement screen. These parts can be found easily online and there are companies that will install the part for you, or provide you with instructions on how to install the part yourself.

One of the most common problems with the iPhone is a broken display. Anybody can repair an iPhone by obtaining the right iPhone touch screen digitizer and screen replacements. There are numerous websites online that offer these replacement parts for all versions of iPhones.

It is very common to have to replace the iPhone glass screens in the 2G, 3G and the 3GS models. If you have to replace the iPhone glass screen, ensure that you have good instructions to follow. Follow them carefully while taking your time. Never try to force anything as that can result in further damage which can make your iPhone unrepairable.

What To Look For When Searching For Mac Repair Technician - Business - Small Business

If you have a product made by Apple, you know how fantastic and reliable they can be. That is, until something happens and you need repairs or diagnostic work performed. Some types of Apple product or Mac repair jobs are not surprising. These can include repairs such as replacing an interior battery after extended periods of continual use, or looking for iPhone repair, Miami when you have dropped your handset and need shattered glass repaired. You may be tempted to try and perform a Mac repair or a repair on your iPhone or iPad yourself. It may sound fairly straightforward if you look at the different websites and manuals available online. However, like many other repairs, when you actually get the machine open and start a Mac repair or trying to fix a problem with another Apple product, you may find out that you need a qualified professional who is able to perform a Mac repair or perform an iPod repair, Miami.Whether you are looking for Mac repair or iPhone repair, Miami t here are a few things that you need to look for. The first is experience. Because there can be differences in the parts and construction used from one generation of Apple products to the next, looking for professionals who offer Mac repair or iPhone repair, Miami on multiple generations of products is better than someone who may only be familiar with older or newer technology. You also want to make sure that they are able to perform the proper diagnostics before beginning your Mac repair or iPhone repair, Miami. Many problems may seem like they will need Mac repair or iPhone repair, Miami but you may end up finding out that you might simply need to debug it or reset some of the programming. A qualified person who is able to perform Mac repair or iPhone repair, Miami should be able to complete this for you and give you the results before simply jumping to performing expensive repair work.If it is necessary for you to have a Mac repair or iPhone repair, Miami performed on your Apple product and replacement parts such as screens, hard drives, motherboards or batteries are required you want to make sure that they are going to be using genuine parts. The last thing you want is to find that they have been using parts that were not made by Apple or that they were not designed for your device or device generation. This can lead to additional problems and may result in any extended warranties being voided which may get expensive if another repair is needed in the future. When searching for people who are able to perform a Mac repair or iPhone repair, Miami, look for a company that will allow you to send the item to them. This can be very helpful if you live near Miami but are not able to travel to the city easily. You should be able to send your Apple product in and have it back in a reasonable amount of time even if it is sent by mail so it can pay for you to ask about that before you send in your product to the repair shop.

Good Tips about Maintaining Your iPhone - Computers - Intranet

Like any new piece of tech, your iPhone is going to need some good maintenance. And with the price at which Apple is offering the iPhone, one should really look into squeezing the most out of the device and using it at its full potential. Battery life, physical damage, OS maintenance - all these and more are things to look out for when caring for your little device. Lest you want to be caught with a broken screen or a phone that won't turn on, here are some good tips in maintaining your iPhone.Battery Life. Like any electronic device, the battery is probably the most important part of your iPhone. After all, how could you take advantage of all the snazzy features and iPhone apps if there's no battery powering it? Exposure to heat and extreme temperatures will reduce the performance of your battery the most. Shield your iPhone from the warm rays of the sun, and keep it out of heated areas like inside your parked car, near ovens, etc. Avoid overcharging and remove the plug o nce the battery reaches 100%, then completely drain to 0%. Do this at least once a month. Also, try turning off some power intensive features (running apps in standby, turning down the brightness, etc.) to prolong the battery life.Touchscreen. One of the best things about the iPhone is its glorious 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display. As the primary source of input and output, the iPhone screen gets the most abuse from its touchy owners. Common sense would tell us to never spill any liquid on it like coffee, and other beverages. So be careful when using your iPhone while hanging out in your favorite bar or coffee shop. Also avoid using the touchscreen with wet or damp hands. For added maintenance, keep a small piece of clean cloth specifically for your iPhone; to wipe off dust, grime and unsightly fingerprint marks on the screen. Software. Maintaining your iPhone OS is just as important as caring for the actual physical phone. Always update to the latest version of the s oftware to take advantage of fixes, added features, and protection from malicious exploits. Jailbreaking your iPhone might give you more functionality, but it also breaks your warranty. Some 3rd party applications may even cause damage to your iPhone OS. Only jailbreak your iPhone if you are aware of the consequences and you really know what you are doing. Memory and Processor. If you experience apps crashing, webpages freezing, or just a general sluggish performance of your iPhone, it might be caused by a memory problem. Don't fully load your iPhone; free a certain percentage of the memory to compensate for spikes in activity. Also take note of general trends; if an app keeps crashing, the problem might lie in the app itself and not on your phone. Quickly uninstall these problematic iPhone apps. If a webpage doesn't load, it might be that the page is too big. Most websites have a mobile version that requires less memory. To be sure, try rebooting your iPhone to free up some memory.Added Accessories. To add an extra layer of protection for your iPhone, why not invest in some protective accessories. iPhone cases, screen protectors, and the like would go a long way in keeping your iPhone looking as good as new. Body cases - in hard plastic or moulded rubber - would protect your iPhone body from dents and scratches, as well as absorbing impact from drops or falls; saving you the agony of seeing your iPhone cracked open and exposing its electronic guts. Screen protectors make sure your iPhone display is as crisp and clear as the day you bought it. Stylish designs also abound for these added accessories to give that extra bit of customization to your iPhone. Be protected and geek-chic at the same time.If any other problems would arise for your iPhone, immediately take it to an Apple Service Center to find a solution. Also, only buy products and solicit services from brands and companies you know you can trust. Quality is not a high price to pay for the happiness that a well-maintained and fully functioning iPhone brings.

Do it yourself iPhone/iPod repairs - Is it really cheaper? - Technology - Cell Phones

Is it worth it to do a DIY iPhone repair instead of having it professionally done? This article will examine the costs and the benefits of the two. Hopefully, this will make it easier to decide between doing a repair yourself or have it done professionally by an iPhone repair business.

We all know that going with the DIY route is seemingly cheaper. At least, it appears that way in theory. Of course, once everything is said and done, one might find that the DIY repair cost more money, time, and effort than it would have cost by using a professional. Moreover, it's possible to permanently damage the device, rendering it unfixable.

What are the reasons? First, time alone is a major issue. Most people obviously have little to no experience repairing iPhones or iPods. And DIY repairs can be timely without the practice. An average iPhone glass repair can easily take 1-2 hours. Now, the more a person does something, the more familiar he or she gets with the process, and the quicker they get at doing it. Yet, the first time someone attempts to repair a broken screen (for example) they should be ready to spend well over an hour. Other repairs, such as replacing a back cover, can take 4 or more hours.

Next, effort is going to play a major role. It's true that the effort put into learning how to repair an iPhone is wonderful. A person can learn a lot while dissecting their very own device. That person should keep in mind though that he is the owner of that device, and therefore has to deal with whatever the outcome. None of these repairs are easy by any means. When the phone is laying there in pieces, screws all over, parts spread out, it will be hard to put it back together correctly. So, a DIY person must take his time, and pay attention to every little detail.

The last thing to consider is money. Money is the most important factor in our decision of choosing a DIY repair over a professional repair. The initial cost of the DIY kit/part will be cheaper than having it repaired by an iPhone repair business. This is simply because the labor and service costs are no longer present. Again, it's wise to keep in mind that these repairs are difficult and there are many parts that can be broken or damaged while performing a DIY repair. This leads to a new problem, whereas the original problem with your device may have been a quick repair. When a part gets damaged or broken, it will inevitably lead to more time and effort, which means more money spent on the new problem. Anyone who has broken an iPhone knows how fragile they are. They are just as fragile once disassembled.

In conclusion, DIY repairs are perfectly fine for a person who has experience repairing iPhones and can confidently fix them. If the person who chooses to do a DIY repair is fortunate enough to have a few broken iPhones laying around, he can experiment with those, and then try tackling his primary phone. However, for the majority of people who are inexperienced yet want confidence that the broken device will work like new with the least amount of hassle, please get it professionally done by an iPhone repair business. It will save you time, effort, and money.

Insurance for the iPhone - Not a Good Deal for Everyone - Technology - Cell Phones

Early in 2010, AT&T announced that they would offer an insurance plan to cover all new iPhones. The plan costs $13.99 dollars per month, and must be signed within 30 days of purchasing a new iPhone. The announcement was great news to iPhone owners who have been dismayed by the lack of an insurance option for their devices. To me, the announcement lost its shimmer once I thought about what a bad deal this is.

First, let's talk about what insurance really is. It is peace of mind, simply put. You agree to pay money to a company and receive no product or service in return. All you receive is a promise that the insurer will pay in the event of a loss. Often times, the losses can be enormous (e.g., a flood, sudden death or home fire). Yet, because these events are statistically unlikely to happen and the insurance companies know it, the cost of such peace of mind comes at a low enough cost to be a good value.

However, what if some sort of loss occurs more frequently (a cracked iPhone screen or an auto accident by a teenager, for instance)? What does an insurance company do to account for that? Well, they price the premiums higher because there is a higher likelihood that a loss will occur. If the insurance company doesn't price the premiums high enough, the insurance company will go out of business.

So, how much does peace of mind cost for a $600 or $700 iPhone that break more often and cost more than many other smart-phones? Well, it's a price that I don't believe is a good bargain. First of all, at $11.99, the premiums alone are $287.76 for the duration of a two-year contract. In ADDITION, if you have a iPhone 4 with any size memory or or an iPhone 3GS with memory anything over 16GB, you must pay a deductible of $199 to replace your damaged device before you can get a replacement. That added together is $486.76. That's a huge amount of money to insure a phone that costs $700 for the most expensive 4th Generation iPhone on the market and $600 for the next model down. 3GS iPhones cost even less to replace.

Why not, instead of paying such a high premium for insurance, take advantage of an iPhone repair company? A simple Google search will show that many reputable companies participate in iPhone repair. You can fix a cracked 4th Generation iPhone screen for $199 bucks. Many of these companies will fully refurbish a 3GS iPhone for less than $199. And you saved $11.99 a month.

Keep in mind, you may be eligible for a two-year upgrade at the time you actually break your phone, which would allow you to replace your iPhone merely by agreeing to another 2-year contract and paying $199. You would even get a newer model.

The bottom line is that before you let yourself get talked into insurance by a sales rep, make sure this peace of mind is worth the cost according to your own lifestyle. Measure the cost against the risk. The AT&T rep gets commissions for selling insurance and will always recommend it. AT&T does not repair the devices and therefore doesn't make any money if customers know they can get their phone repaired elsewhere. The price of the monthly premium adds up, and if you are a person who typically doesn't break electronics or lose things, then your money is wasted.

iPhone 4S Review – Siri Is Eerie But Cool - Technology - Cell Phones

The iPhone 4S is currently one the most sought after new cell phones available for purchase, online or at the store, along with recently launched and competing phones names such as the Droid RAZR or the Galaxy Nexus.

The iPhone 4S is said to be an improvement on its' older iPhone4 version and still retains many of the typical and well loved functions which characterized its older version.

The above being said, there are significant improvements and new features which distinguish the iPhone 4S from the iPhone4 that are worthy of exploration.

The first notable improvement is the introduction of Siri, a feminine robotic voice that is a cross between a digital personal assistant and a secretary. Simply by speaking to your iPhone 4s (and Siri) you can check the weather, traffic conditions and GPS coordinates. You can also tell Siri to send and receive emails, place phone calls and schedule meetings.

Siri talks back to you, but not in a snarky sarcastic teenager way (but that could be fun). Siri uses colloquialisms and common language when speaking and many will find this new feature helpful.

Another exciting feature of the iPhone 4S is its ability to support a variety of networks including CDMA, GSM, and CDMA users from both Verizon and Sprint carriers, even though AT&T is actually its' official carrier.

This is great news for users as it allows them the ability to use the phone on different networks and carriers. Also for Verizon and Sprint users the ability to legitimately unlock the phone, after only six months of service, has now become possible.

The iPhone 4S is able to accept SIM cards from all previously mentioned networks, an ability which is really increasing the span of international communication, through the phones being able to connect to a wider number of worldwide SIM cards, as opposed to being restricted to a specific carrier or company brand name.

One possibility which is definitely worth exploration is the usage of much cheaper international SIM cards, while traveling for example, on a very high performance phone, thus decreasing the total usage costs of the phone significantly.

Also, the iPhone 4S has 3.0 G on Verizon & Sprint carriers and 3.5 G (HSPA) on AT&T carriers. Some improvements from the old also include better optical, visual and software capacities with the introduction of an 8MP camera and low light sensors.

These are built in a way which maximizes the potential sensory light intake, in order to provide better quality definition imagery, and video outsourcing. The visual sensory opening of the phone has also been contracted form a 2.8 radius to a 2.4 one, in order to allow more light to filter through, and improve the general display quality of the imagery.

Also, the new iPhone 4S boasts better notification applications, a messaging feature which supports free SMS services between iOs device users, and a PC-Free or independent attitude towards the downloading of additional service and data without the need of a computer to do so.

Significant changes in the hardware include the insertion of an A5 dual core processer, and two additional CPS processors. The A-5 is essentially a chip which contains GPH graphics processors of really high definition and quality and increase visual performance. The CPS processing cores, on the other hand, help in the speedy and more efficient processing of information in terms of applications and other phone related performance tasks.

Finally, the exciting launch of the iPhone 4S, now available for purchase in stores, will definitely have an effect on changing the conventional single carrier phone practices and open new doors in terms of variable carrier options and possibilities.

Apple to launch iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 by September? - Technology - Communication

Its one thing when we speculate on the next iPhone based on leaked photos that could have been someones Photoshop project, but quite another when analysts from two different investment banks are arriving at similar conclusions without any concrete evidence. Or is it?

Katy Huberty from Morgan Stanley just returned to the U.S. after undisclosed meetings in Taiwan (possibly with Apple suppliers), when she informed investors that production for the next iPhone will begin ramping up aggressively from August to the end of 2011, according to Fortune. Based on her information, she believes these devices will be available to consumers by the end of September, and that Apple will be offering both the next-gen iPhone as well as a lower priced iPhone concurrently, according to AppleInsider.

Her colleague at Deutsche Bank, Chris Whitmore, made even bolder claims today by telling clients to expect both a pre-paid, unlocked iPhone 4S and a newly designed iPhone 5. He believes $349 would be the magic number to enable Apple to capture new customers, particularly in parts of the world where carriers do not subsidize the cost of handsets with a contract thats 1.5 billion potential customers in 98 countries, two thirds of whom prefer pre-paid plans according to Fortune. As Philip Elmer-DeWitt at Fortune noted, Whitmore does not cite any sources or claim any inside knowledge for his two-iPhone theory./dell/inspiron-1300.htm

While its entirely possible that the iPhone 5 will cause an iPhone 4s to be deeply discounted and co-exist like the current iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 ecosystem, neither Huberty nor Whitmore have offered any evidence to backup their claims. I find it hard to believe the factories will have enough time to produce two different iPhones at the same time for September. As my colleagues have pointed out, the only sure bets about the next iPhone is that it will run iOS 5 and that its coming. So far, only the LulzSec leaked AT&T documents have provided the most concrete evidence that the next iPad will be LTE-enabled, whereas the analysts seem to be making lofty declarations without any proofs. Who do you believe more? The hackers or the analysts? Give your laptop a new life with higher capacity battery. Each model was engineered for maximum run time so you won't miss those important shots.
